THE ROOM TONE

NARRATIVE SHORT

SYNOPSIS

The Room Tone is a contemporary psychological short that explores the lived experience of extreme anxiety. A young woman finds herself trapped inside an unfamiliar room with a silent, unidentifiable figure. Though the figure never harms her, its constant presence fills the space with dread. The door is locked, and she has no clear way out.

As time stretches on, she begins dismantling the room itself, obsessively searching for answers and patterns in an effort to escape. The process becomes exhausting, reflecting the long, draining journey of attempting to “fix” one’s own mind. When she finally discovers a way out, she is faced with a choice that forces her to reconsider what freedom truly means.

The Room Tone ultimately reveals that release does not always come from escape, but from understanding, and from learning how to live with what once felt unbearable.
